This simulator doesn't take into account ship movement points. In the game movement points are extra attacks. I have destroyed many large fleets with small "weaker" ships that have huge movement point advantages. A 1 point laser does 1 point of damage in an attack if the ship has 1 movement point. If the same ship has 18 movement points the damage is acumulated so the end result is 18. At least thats the way the combat appears to happen on my computer when my tiny fighter with a 1 point laser destroys 9 of 11 pirate dreadnoughts in a single fleet combat.

???
What?? Do we play the same game? I have never seen this functionality, and I have played more than a few games in DA.

Is that DA thing? I have DL and I get an attack for each move my ship has. Maybe Were talking apples and oranges? When my ship runs out of moves I can't attack anymore that turn.

Is that a DA thing? I play DL and my ships can attack as many times per turn as they have available movement points. Each time I attack my available moves decreases by 1 until it reaches zero or I stop attacking. During a fleet battles where the ships are displayed it acts differently and may use all my available moves or some. Is DA combat that different?

Oh, you mean outside of combat.
I think the sim is just worrying about what happens inside of combat, when you move your ships to attack them. But only one round.

i am having some problems with this.
in the first campaign mission of DA there is a dread lord defender with 0/0/177 attack , 27/0/0 defense, and 12hp. I made a fleet of three 1hp ships with 0/0/11 attack. according to the combat simulator I should win like 92% of the time. But in reality I never win. In fact I only do like 0-3 damage to the defender.
Maybe the dread lords have a 100% defense modifier? Even if I change double the ship to 54/0/0 i still win like 82% in theory but 0% in reality.
It makes sense that this fleet should work given the wikia formula his defense should be 0-5 (int(sqrt(27)=5) my attack should be 1-11 but in the actual game i almost always do 0 points of damage and only occasionally do 1 or 2.
What am i overlooking here?

The simulator is only valid for the base game. Both expansions (and the DL campaign played through them) use a different combat system, thus the wrong results.
