Opinion? What's that?
Hulls your way!
Published on February 27, 2006 By kryo In Modding

Ever want to use a Dreadlord Hull, or some other race's hull as your own, or even just a different hull than the size you picked allows? Now you can! KHSM adds a 'blank' hull of each size (simply a hardpoint and nothing else), and makes ALL ship hulls in the game into jewelry. So now you can have any hull design you like, add hulls upon hulls as jewelry, or even create a ship ENTIRELY out of jewelry with no hull at all!

You can, but it won't be pleasant to do since the files need renamed also.

Crud...I don't think I have that much patience.

Woo Hoo...success!

I don't know why, but I ditched the whole thing again and reinstalled it...I ended up running the batch twice and BOOM I have it all now.  Sweetness.

Awesome mod, Kryo...millions of kudos just for my new ability to make squadrons and battlegroups rather than single ships.

This is by far one of the best mods for the game, hands down!

Note: -

If you are  installing this for the first time please note that you may have to run the included batch file twice. I have tested this a couple of times now and for some reason on windows 7 64bit it doesn't take the first time but does on the second.

This may not be the case on all machines so please take this as a possible fix if you are having trouble getting the mod to work.

Been using this mod since it first came out and cant see playing the game without it now

I modified the batch file for GalCiv2Ult users like me and got it to work on my machine.  Are you interested in the batch file?

Oops, wrong tabs.

Hello there, first things first I have to say that this mod is AWESOME, you have done a great job on this kryo . . . Now that I've said that, I have to ask, can/does the AI use these hulls (as in the the jewelry ones) when "auto" designing their ships? Also it seems that the .bat file only copies certain models as it cannot find the path for others (I have the ultimate edition package, using the TA version of the mod).

TA ships out of the box configured to point at the DL mods folder. If you pull up the change mods directory button in the options and hit the default button, it will reset it to use the TA-specific folder. You can then create Mods folder (if it doesn't) in the Twilight install folder, stick the KHSM files there, and the batch file should run fine without modifications. Just tried it on a fresh Steam install.

Thank you Kryo! I'll give that a shot I'll report back STAT!

Odd still not finding the files even I run the batch file as Admin.

I'm using the original batch and everything looks identical to your screenshot. (minus the directories of course) mine are...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\Twilight\Mods\KHSM-TA

This is the directory I run it from, the game settings look fine...the mod is active just no hull jewelry. Hrmph

What files, specifically? All of them? Just certain ones?

The only way it should have a problem is if the working folder is somehow other than the one the batch file is in, but that's implicit if you just run it from windows explorer.

I agree with the logic 100% too, something is just not right with my install. (Its a clean install too, so odd) Should I PM you so we don't tie up the thread?

You can just get on IRC (using the support chat if you don't have a client installed).
